Resizing ScreenShot in Preview

Is anyone else having crazy results when resizing a .png Screenshot in Preview?

When I go to 'Tools/Adjust size' & resize downwards the KB's go up!

I have 'Scale proportionally' & 'Resample image' boxes ticked.
