Hi all,
first of all I must admit I am new to Reaper and mixing in general. In fact this is the first song we are recording with the band, using a Roland Studio Capture, the ASIO driver shipped with it, 64bit windows notebook (potent hardware) and 64bit Reaper.
The problem is that there sometimes is a crackling noise, when having multiple tracks layered. The noise is not part of any single track. Please listen to the example where there are 5 raw tracks with no FX, just a little panning:
* 1 Bass track panned to center
* Rhythm guitar double tracked, panned somewhere left and right
* Solo guitar double tracked, panned somewhere left and right

The noise intensifies when more tracks are layered but is even perceivable when having only bass and rhythm guitar tracks. It occurs when listing in Reaper as well as after rendering it with sample rate of 96000Hz to mp3, as you can hear.
Project sample rate is set to 96000Hz. During recording the audio device settings for the ASIO driver were set such that projects may override the device sample rate. Unfortunately I don't know what sample rate the Studio Capture actually used.
During mixing, the Studio Capture is not connected to my notebook, so a different audio device is used (see screenshot).
Could it be the problem that the actual sample rate the Studio Capture used is lower than the Reaper sample rate? Is it a configuration mistake rather than a mixing mistake? Anything I can do about that after recording?
Thanks for help!
