Broadcast Marker Name via UDP

Hello,

One of the bands I'm currently playing in use Reaper live (running off a small mini-itx machine with an SSD and Tascam USB interface so there's no moving parts etc.) Currently we use Reaper where each song is set up as a 2 track WAV for front of house backing mix, a 2 track monitor mix and a MIDI channel which controls lighting with tempo changes on the timeline for each song etc. So far it's all working a treat :)

However what I would really like to do is be able to broadcast the current song name as a simple bit of plain ASCII text wrapped up in a UDP message (i.e. fire and forget) This would mean that we can send out the track name before each song starts and have it picked up by a couple of Raspberry Pis which would give us a couple of points on stage where we can see what song is coming next.

As a possible expansion it might also be nice to be able to have a "lyrics track" where you could place text at various points on the timeline which would also be sent out via UDP broadcasts (so not just lyrics but general notes or insults to each other etc. :)

It would be nice to use UDP as that way the host doesn't care whether the messages are received or not.

Just putting this out as an idea to see what people think ? And if someone says "you can already do this by x,y,z" that would be even better as I've read the fine manual and haven't spotted a way to do it !

Cheers.

P.S. There's nothing wrong with our current use of paper set lists (which work ok) but this does seem like a nice feature for live use !
