Position of monitors

I understand the equal triangle at ear height principle but was curious.
Most pics I have seen here and elsewhere show peoples monitors being just a couple of feet away from where they are sitting.

I am thinking of changing my room around and wonder what the difference would be if I had the monitors between 6 and 10 feet away, respecting the triangle thingie of course.
